Prioritizing substances
I am a resident in Australia-a wonderful, rare and unique place to live..here December and January are summer seasons unlike other countries..the temperature will rise drastically sometimes it goes to mid 40's...at this time of the year the country will face draught and the farmers suffer a lot...but this time it is raining, continuously pouring for 3 weeks...so the state where I live in some of the northern suburbs experience flooding and people are suffering without shelter, food, medical supplies lost most of thier livestock and they are cut out from the rest of the world and rescuers cant reach them b'coz of bad weather...The worst part is that the insurance will not cover the flood damage..I was feeling so bad for them and cud'nt imagine myself in their place...where as another state was having bushfire b'coz of hot temperature, the temperature there was 41 degree and almost 40 hecters of bush land was burnt..100's of fire fighters were fighting to control the blaze so I was waiting for the evening news to hear and see the footage..but I was in for a total disappointment... they were eager in telling about Nichol Kidman's(Hollywood actress) pregnancy and they headlined it as "Personal preferences" and then after couple of other news I heard what I wanted to hear...I was puzzled, have we really lost our sense or is it me nagging for nothing? what importance does it bring to us about the celebrities pregnancy...Is it of that importance that we have to hear it in the headlines?? so what are we teaching our children??what sort of example and future are we providing them??? It just reminds me of a quote:
"I'm very much in support of the free press, but the free press ought to be educational and informative. And I believe they have fallen down recently on that."

I Strongly agree with your View of prioritizing substabces. Global Warming is becoming a serious issue now which everyone has to make this a priority in life. On one day there was fire in Victoria, Flood in Queensland and Warm in NSW. Mixed Temperature. People are too busy with their daily life that they dont have much time to think about this neither they dont know what should be done to reduce this. But My point is, we just not simply dwell on this Global Warming thoughts all time atleast there is Nicole Kidman there in big screen cheering up with her pregnancy. Those celebrities are someway or other making people laugh and cry, do something which keeps people entertained. But all we can do in return wish her luck for her pregnancy.
Agila..I do agree with u..that doesn't mean that we have to hear it in the headlines...the relevence of matter is the difference b/w headlines and ordinary news...
