Expectation is the first step for disappointment
Disappointment leads to anger
Anger inturn hides our thinking capability-
which followed by rude meaningless actions & words
Thus spoiling a relation and a life...
... The outcome of our hardwork is the result of expectation, which pushes us to bit more perfection and closer to our dream...but whereas the real mistake of expectation is expecting from other... which most of the time leads to disaster...
Always Expect the unexpected... and be brave and prepared for the outcome...

You are right. People expect more in their life not knowing how much they gave back in return. Its not that people should not expect, they have to be loyal to their expectation. "Aim high and you will work through to achieve it" this has gone wrong now. They just want to Aim High all the times without even contributing 1% of their effort to work through. They want flower petals on their way to reach their Aim. People dont know its just Hard stones and Thorns which is spread out on our way. Its shame behaviour of Human. Finally they blame God. Poor God. As you said expect the worst and be prepared for it. Who knows there could be just flowers you might have to cross through
